One to One: Day 34
By Tracey Armstrong
Genesis 8:22 “While the earth remains, seed-time and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.” (NKJV)
There is a huge difference between seed-time and harvest. We are all looking for a harvest. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t want to reap in his or her life. Yet, our most common mistake is to think that our harvest time is at hand when in actuality it is time for sowing. You will not have any fruit for your labor if you sow during harvest and harvest during seed-time.
We must develop the discernment to know when it is time to sow and when it is time to reap. If we are always in a mindset of reaping, then we may find ourselves very frustrated. I wish that it were harvest-time everyday! But that would make God a liar. It is possible that before the destruction of the earth it was harvest-time all of the time, but since the days of Noah we have had seed-time and harvest.
It is vital for us to understand the times and the seasons. I planted some pepper seeds a few years ago, the seeds sprouted and began to grow, and eventually I moved the plant from an indoor plant pot to the ground in my backyard. Slowly the plant began to lose its leaves and look unhealthy. I was dumbfounded! Why was the plant dying? I had planted it outside in the wrong season! I didn’t get any fruit from this plant for a whole year. I planted the plant in the winter and even though it was Southern California, I totally missed the perfect season to plant.
So, I had to wait patiently for the next harvest season. The plant didn’t die, but it didn’t bear the fruit when I really wanted it. I encourage you not to eat your seed nor plant your seed in the wrong season. Know what season of life you are living in. Know whether what you have in your hand is your seed to plant or your harvest to eat. Just knowing where you are is fifty percent of the breakthrough. Don’t eat what you are supposed to sow simply because you think that you are in your harvest time.
Father, red dot me. Pinpoint where I am in my life and pinpoint my walk with you. Please help me to understand what season I am in so that I can live according to Your perfect timing. I will be faithful no matter what season it is. I trust that you will give me a strategy for maximizing the most of this time of my life, thank you.
Seek and you shall find. If you seek the Lord regarding your present season, God will show you a strategy on how to maximize this time of your life. Put God’s strategy to work immediately and you will rejoice in the outcome.
